If your AC unit consists of a fan and a huge block of ice…
Well some say I am a redneck, I say I am cooler than most of the other Americans here and thats all that matters to me.
The problem with my AC is this block of ice melts in about 1 hour 45 minutes and it take 8 hours to freeze a bottle. Anyway it is in the high 80’s low 90’s here, we have no AC, one fan at the moment, and the thermometer in my window says it is 120 degress outside. Of course that is not true but we get solid sun all afternoon and it is HOT!
So many of you know about our fight with the Ukrainian government. If not we have been trying to get a birth certificate for the last 3 weeks now with no luck. Every time we go they tell us our paper work is not in order and to do this or that. It sounds very simple and calm but let me tell you there has been some high blood pressure in our house for the last week. We can not get a passport without this birth certificate and the darn thing doesn’t even really matter. We will get a new one from the Embassy the same day. But to keep this post on the positive side we have conformation from the US Embassy that on Monday morning we will get an emergency temporary passport for baby Ellie. This will get us home for Becky’s wedding, for everyone to see the baby and also to give us the chance to get the documents in order that we need to get the Ukrainian birth certificate. Then when we come back to Ukraine we will go through this process again, hopefully with more success.
We want to say a special thank you for your prayers. This is an answer we were not expecting and something that was never an open option. We thank God for His faithfulness and know that it is because of your prayers that the Consular offered this option to us. Hope to see most of you soon and again thank you for your faithfulness to us and to God especially.
Wow, it’s been over 3 weeks already. Emily and Brandon have been after me to write a blog(I’m not really sure what that is), but here goes. As they say, “Time flies when you’re having fun!” #4 grandbaby, Ellie, arrived and is beautiful, as I’m sure you have already seen in her Daddy’s pictures. She is 3 weeks old today. Watching her change day to day is remarkable! I have settled in very well now–have gotten over the ”GI” stuff and am working on my calf muscles–doing a lot of walking everyday. I am slowly learning my way around. I can now get to the metro, the store, and the base by myself. Still can’t understand a word of Russian, but more…
